And, just like climbers rely on each other to reach the summit, our journey so far has been powered by you — our amazing community! Your support and trust have powered every step we’ve taken.

What Led to FluentCRM & the Fluent Ecosystem?

Four years have flown!

Today, we realize, many new users may not know what sparked the idea of FluentCRM. And for those who do, well, it’s easy to forget (…even we did ngl)!

Over the years, FluentCRM and its parent WPManageNinja evolved drastically, it’s understandable why some of us forgot to reminiscence our story!

On this joyous occasion, let’s take a moment to hop in our time machine and revisit the memories that shaped our story.

FluentCRM Story

What Started It All

We started our journey with one clear motto:

We want to empower small businesses to grow.

Though FluentCRM was officially launched in 2020, the desire to empower small businesses started back in 2017, with the introduction of a user-friendly table builder plugin — Ninja Tables!

Interestingly, as a newcomer to the WordPress community, our product was widely accepted by many users! And, that acceptance and recognition fueled our motivation and marked the beginning of our journey.

With our motto in mind, we were researching the market and found there was a lack of contact form builders. And, those who were there, were too clunky or too expensive for small businesses!

We asked ourselves, “Why not create a less expensive solution with an easy-to-use interface?”

So, we took the challenge to serve the community with an easy-to-use form builder tool. Thus, Fluent Forms was born!

And the response? People welcomed it with open arms, powering 500K users — till today!

Back in 2020, we realized there wasn’t a solid self-hosted email marketing plugin on the market, so we introduced FluentCRM. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. The real story? It started with a need we had ourselves.

  • We needed it for our own business: At the time, we were already serving many users with our other plugins. However, we needed an email marketing tool that fit our workflow.
  • Other tools were expensive: We were using ActiveCampaign and we liked the tool a lot. But as our list grew bigger, the cost was getting on our nerves.
  • “Why not build it for ourselves?”: That was the question that sparked FluentCRM! We weren’t just thinking about the market; we were solving our own problems first.
  • The launch: In October 2020, we polished FluentCRM and officially introduced it to the world!
  • The response: The overwhelming response we received was incredible! People loved FluentCRM (still loving it though..)!
  • The eureka moment: FluentCRM was transforming businesses in ways we hadn’t even imagined! That led us to one conclusion — let’s build an ecosystem of products with FluentCRM at the heart of it all!

This was the birth of the idea of Fluent Ecosystem with FluentCRM as the sun at its core — everything else orbits around it!

Since that eureka moment, we forgot to stop! With a single vision of continued growth and development in mind, we introduced Fluent Support, FluentBooking, FluentSnippet, and lastly FluentBoards!

Before upgrading the Company Module, FluentCRM was mainly focused on B2C operations. But our users requested more features to grow and manage their business more efficiently.

This made it harder for businesses to manage multiple contacts from the same company, leading to disorganization and inefficiency.

So, for our users, we worked on B2B communication to help them grow their business. This revamped Company Module is a major leap forward. It’s designed to streamline the way companies and their related contacts are managed, making workflows more efficient than ever before!

The upgraded Company Module is now packed with:

  • Improved permission policies for assigning CRM managers to specific companies

We also noticed that WordPress lacks a truly dynamic community plugin. Sure, there’s BuddyPress, but let’s be honest — it’s showing its age. The functionalities just aren’t keeping up with the fast-paced tech era we’re in. So, after exploring the problem and testing a solution for over a year, we had an idea brewing.
